A Look into The Islands of the Atlantic Ocean
Scattered through this great ocean are many beautiful islands. Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard are but a two hour boat ride off the coast of Massachusetts.
Located on the northern hemisphere are The Azores, Madeira, Cape Verde, Canary Islands, and Sao Tome and Principe.
The Azores consist of islands namely Faial, Corvo, Graciosa, Flores, Sao Jorge, Sao Miguel, Pico, Terceira, Santa Maria. These island group is also considered as an autonomous region of Portugal. Similar to Azores, Madeira is also considered as an autonomous region of Portugal. Madeira is composed of four islands Madeira, Porto Santo, Desertas, and Selvagens Islands with the first two acknowledged as populated islands and the latter two unpopulated ones; popularly known as the Islands of Eternal Spring. A country in Africa, Cape Verde comprises another group of islands in the Atlantic Ocean. Canary Islands is an Atlantic Territory of Spain while Sao Tome and Principe is an island located in the Atlantic coast of Central Africa.
On the southern hemisphere of the Atlantic Ocean are Fernando de Noronha and Trindade both in Brazil and St. Helena in the United Kingdom.
These islands lying within the area of the Atlantic Ocean have different characteristics as well as resources in terms of activities to do and attractions to offer to visitors. Along with the interesting history and information of the Atlantic Ocean, there are also many other things to discover with all of these Atlantic Ocean islands.
